The City of Rigby is hosting an Open House to celebrate the completion of the $21.9-million Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements. The expansion triples the previous wastewater plant’s capacity and allows the City to meet the newly imposed ammonia discharge limit.

Both the public and representatives from media outlets are invited to attend. 

The improvements include the addition of kenaf biofilm process, construction of 2 new oxidation ditches and clarifiers, installation of cloth media filters, a new dewatering screw press, and a new larger capacity UV system. Now that the improvements are completed, the City’s wastewater is being treated to a level that is of a much higher quality than what had been discharged previously.

The project was funded, in part, by Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (ARPA), Idaho Department of Commerce, United States Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Rigby. The City was pleased to receive over $24.1 million in grant to help pay the overall cost of the project. 

City officials have provided oversight and guidance throughout the planning, design, and construction of the project. Project Engineering was provided by Keller Associates, Inc. Altura completed the Grant Funding Administration. RSCI and McAlvain were the construction contractors for the projects.
